What does innovation mean to you?
Our personal perception of innovation is deeply shaped by the environment and the times we live in. Within Europe itself, people’s views differ and are influenced by multiple factors such as the technological development and socio-economic situation of a country, the average age of its population, and confidence in the future or in political leaders.
For example, in Bulgaria, technical progress is generally seen as a promising engine for societal transformation. Other Europeans such as Italians and Danes have more contrasting opinions, depending on their generation and whether they live in the city or the countryside.
«Sometimes we think that change is a place, an investment, a great work. But probably it is more revolutionary, it is a way that makes a widespread impact on people's mindsets».
Pierfrancesco Maran, Councillor for Housing and Neighbourhood Planning of Milan (Italy)
